About Me:

Married 1952 to Pat Newby of Sarasota, FL. Lived in Biloxi, MS, Gainesville, FL, Clearwater, FL, Spartanburg, SC, Richardson, Tx, Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Tampa, then on to Troy, AL, and finally Dothan, AL 19 years ago. Retired from the Florida School System with 22 1/2 years and from Alabama Baptist Children's Home 5 years. Pat died in 1997 and my son was killed 2 week later in a trucking accident. My daughter lives with me and we work with the National Alliance on Mental Illness together.

    Hi! I’m Lila Mae Hamilton Risinger’s daughter, Class of 1971. Since I’ve been enjoying this website for awhile now, I noticed that your class hadn’t established a Group yet, so I helped Mother do that.
    Once you go to the group, Class of 1951, you will see 4 Discussion Forums ready for your memories. Please feel free to add to them whenever you think of something!
    Here’s how to get started:
    Click the tab: Groups
    Click: Class of 1951
    On the right side of the page, to the left of your name, click: +Join Class of 1951
    [joining the group will allow you to add Comments and to receive notifications of new postings to the group]
    Next, look at the Discussion Forum and click: View All
    [those words are in red & underlined, toward the right...this will allow you to see all 4 discussion forums...I based these on the very successful ones that are in the 1971 group].

    To write a memory to one of the discussion forums, just type in the white block and click Add Reply when you’re satisfied with what you wrote.

    If someone wrote something that you want to expound on or question, click Reply to This [just under what they wrote] and when you’ve finished writing, don’t forget to click Add Reply.

    I’m really hoping to read about some of the wacky things that went on because I’ve sure head a few [appendages sticking out of bus doors, a car carried to an upper floor at Memorial, Goody Goody, skating...]...especially since mine are out there now in the 1971 group!

    I hope that all goes well with Hanna and doesn't bother you. I am just hoping that all will go well for next week when we head to Tampa.

    That Hugo was really bad. We were living in Troy at that time but were away from the home. A lot of pine trees were down. I hope that all goes well with Hanna.

    Hi Zoe, So glad you and Deedee have reconnected. Hope you get together when you are down in September. We are expecting Hurricane Hanna to come this way on Friday, so you know how everyone gets in an uproar for that. I have decided to kennel my little dog, so have to take her for a booster shot for kennel cough - and then I will go somewhere with my son and family for the storm (if it stays on course). I hope we don't have another Hugo. That was terrible. Stay in touch. - Barbara
