About Me:

After graduation I joined the U.S. Navy and served for one tour (4 years) out west in San Diego, CA. I served with an Anti-Submarine Helicopter Squadron (HS-6) onboard the U.S.S. Enterprise for two six-month cruises in the Western Pacific, visiting many Asian ports, it was pretty amazing but ultimately not a good fit for me. It's beautiful in Southern California, but I came back to Tampa because I missed the humidity and Cuban sandwiches! I re-connected with some old friends and began a relationship with an old HHS classmate, we got married and have a fantastic son. Unfortunately our marriage didn't last and we parted ways (on friendly terms). I moved from Tampa in 1997 and have been in Kissimmee / Orlando since. I attended Valencia Community College and graduated with an Associate's degree (2001) and transferred to UCF but was able to attend only one semester when real world needs outweighed my esoteric pursuits (I wasn't making enough money working part time hours and studying full time) so I went looking for a better paying full time job and was hired at the local Gatorade bottling plant in Kissimmee. I've now been there just over seven years, and March 2008, I received a promotion off the production floor where we work a rotating 12-hour shift schedule. I now enjoy a traditional Monday through Friday work week, and I've returned to Valencia in pursuit of a second Associate's degree (this time an A.S. in Business Administration). I'm engaged to a wonderful woman that helps me get through classes and life with a smile on my face and when you see me at any future alumni event she'll be at my side no doubt listening to all of our stories - trying to get incriminating tales about my past! I've recently created a Facebook account and have re-connected with many class of 1986 Terriers and been having a great time IM'ing them, and staying up late nights playing online games, etc. I was surprised to find a classmate living just around the corner from me in Kissimmee - talk about a small world! Please look for me on Facebook and start having silly fun online with your old classmates! I look forward to attending some more events as Darlene tirelessly organizes them . . .I wonder if she knew back then how much she would stay involved with our dear old Red & Black?

To my fellow Terriers of the Class of 86... and any Terriers of other classes that want to attend....especially 84, 85, 87.... Here is the planned schedule of events for the Class of 1986, 30th Reunion:
Sept. 30 (Friday) 7pm-10pm---HHS Homecoming football game against Chamberlain ($5 admission to game). They are also calling it the BLACKOUT game, so they want everyone to wear Black. Check in with me at the ALUMNI table once you come into the dogpound for some Terrier beads. Please sit in alumni area where you will see banners and balloons, so it will be easier to find each other for fun prop photos since it will be a packed game. (FYI...the classes of 1996 & 2006 will also be at this game celebrating their reunions as well)... If you would like to have a school tour, one is available at 530pm sharp at the bell tower entrance and will end around 630pm in time for the game. After the game, ABC Pizza, is an option for those that want to go.

Oct. 1 (Saturday) 7pm until ? ---Meet & Mingle at Jackson's on Harbour Island. Meet at the outside bar area. Pay your own drinks and meals on your own dime. Jackson's will validate your parking pass for the first 2 hours. I suggest arriving before 10pm since Jackson's gets really packed.

Oct. 2 (Sunday) 1pm until ? --- Meet at Curtis Hixon Riverwalk area by the Children's Museum (there is parking available by the hour at the Poe garage if you can't find parking on the street). Bring a blanket and pack a picnic then enjoy the beautiful area of Downtown Tampa. Go for a stroll down Riverwalk, by foot or rent a bike. If you want to have some food and drinks, then walk down near the convention center to the THE SAIL pavilion on the water. If you stick around the park till 6pm there's free yoga. Lots of fun stuff to do for the day with classmates!

I hope many of you will come to all or at least one of the gatherings. I look forward to seeing my fellow Terriers. Please spread the word to others that may not be on my email distribution or that are not on facebook. Go HERE for our Facebook page.
