  • Hi Beverly, I received the program today in the mail. All I can say is wow! That is some look into the past. Do you want me to mail it back to you? I was expecting a photo copy and this looks a lot like an original. I sure can see resemblance between your dad and George though I haven't seen George since he was about 12. I have some things that I got from my mom's house when she moved out. When I get around to going through them(who knows when that will be) I may be able to find something you may be interested in and repay the favor. My dad stayed close and loyal to old Coach Higgins till he died...he used to live on the Hillsborough river off of North Blvd.
  • I would love that. Thank you so much. My address is 7406 Meadow Drive, Tampa, Fl. 33634.
  • Yes I believe they knew each other and played football at UT.
Your father was a sr. and played end. Dad was a jr and playes HB.
Crockett was like an uncle to us.
I have a copy of theGeorgia Tech "B" vs UT, Oct. 9, 1936 program. Our fathers are pictured individually and with the team.
What is your address? I'll make a copy and sent it to you.
I live in Wauhula, FL ( in the county since 1965) I was a teacher/librarian at Zolfo Springs Elem. for 38 of my 39 years teaching.
George works at Tampa Armortry (sp?) Works in Tampa, there are two and I do not remember which one.
  • I know my father knew your father but can't remember exactly what year he graduated, it may have been 31 or 32. Phil Patterson(William Philip) was his name. He was a good friend of Crockett Farnell, they played football at Univ of Tampa and they went into coaching together and later into school administration. In the 50's and 60's he was county physical education superintendent, later transportation superintendent.
  • It is possible our dads played together. Dad graduated in 1934.
A Lester M. Patterson is listed at that time.
Could he be related to you?
  • Thanks for the info Beverly. I can't say if I will call or not. Cold telephone calls to someone you haven't spoken to in almost 50 years makes me more than a little uncomfortable. I am glad to know he is alive and in the area and maybe we'll make contact someday. If you see him or talk to him, you might mention that Pat Patterson inquired about him. I remember your father as the principal of Memorial JH and your mother as a really nice person. It's possible our dads played football together at HHS...mine played in the early 30's.
  • Beverly,

Did you use to live on Mohawk? If so, you would be the older sister of George Hatcher who was my best friend in early elementary school. Can you tell me how he is doing? I had two sisters who graduated just before and after you at Hillsborough.
  • Beverly,
Glad to see that you have become a part of our HHS Alumni web site. In looking at your profile I notice you were a teacher/librarian in your career. I was an elementary teacher in my career. Glad to hear that you have retired. I retired from teaching in 1992 and have really enjoyed it.
I would also mention to you that we have a Teacher Group on this site if you are interested in being a part of it.
Glad to have you in our Alumni Association - Leslie
