About Me:

I graduated in 1957, went to Junior College for a year and then entered the U.S. Marine Corps. After returning to Clearwater, Fl, I married my current wife Eleanor Rutherford a 1958 graduate of Clearwater High School. I returned to college and ultimately went to Florida State University and graduated in April 1966 with a BS degree in Criminology. I went to work for the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) now known as NCIS as a Special Agent criminal investigator. I was sent to Charlston, SC, for a year and then on to Nashville, TN, where I still reside. I later obtained my MS degree in Public Adminstration from the University of Tennessee in June 1976. In December 1971 I joined the Naval Reserves as an Intelligence officer and retired from the Reserves in May 1999 while on active duty at the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) at the rank of Captain (06). I have been fortunate to do many things while on active duty to include heading up a team of active duty personnel to implement for the Navy, President Clinton's EO 12958, classification of all material 25 years or older within certain parameters. This two year project is now the model for the rest of the Navy to emulate for which I received the Meritorious Service Medal I have worked for the Defense Investigative Service, Defense Security Service and now the Federal Investigative Service, This has led me to travel to Japan, the United Kingdom, and last year to Naples, Italy to conduct sensitive security investigations for the Department of Defense. I will retire on July 3, 2009 with 45 years service. However, I got asked to go to Germany and left on August 1st and just returned September 12th, so now I will retire on December 3, instead. I have one son, Randall Wayne Pelaez who like his mother and me is a Florida State University graduate.

  • Wayne, Like your pictures.  You looked better in your Marine uniform than I did when I was at Parris Island in the summer of 1956 (on Active duty for basic training while I was in the reserve in Tampa).  Made Jack Scott and myself two weeks late for the beginning of our senior year at HHS.  Thank You again for your service and sacrifice for our country Wayne.  The last time we communicated I believe you were going again back to Italy for service.  Glad You finally retired.  Hope you are enjoying retirement.  I was stationed at Ft. Campbell north of Nashville for about 30 months and saw a lot of Tennessee.  Always liked Tennessee and have been back a number of times on vacation and while traveling through the state.          Wayne, will You be coming to our 55th HHS Class of '57 Reunion at the end of May 2012?   I am planning on being there at that time.  If we are both there it will be nice to see one another - hope we can.  Keep in touch. Blessings - Leslie
