Hi Thea,
We have loved Cairo (well, mostly - it's rather polluted, and we miss clean air and rain!). We've PCS'ed here in '04 and liked it so much that we asked for extensions. This is the longest we've ever lived anywhere - me since leaving HS, my husband, ever. I am starting to look forward to the next move, but I will miss this place and could see us coming back. The school that the kids attend is amazing... it will hurt to leave it. There is a laid back attitude here that, while it can be annoying at times, also has great stress reducing properties.
I found my knight in a group of my friends. Just when I thought I'd be happiest as a permanent single, this guy became my best friend and ruined that idea without my having any regrets. :-) He's a good dad too. I've been working as a stay at home mom for the past year - my work at the Embassy was just taking too much time away and I was too obsessed to ever do part-time - and it's been HARD, but fun. My 5yo is hopping around with both feet in one of my slippers, and a snowman sticker on her nose ... I no longer need TV.
