  • Hi Karen, so glad you wrote back. I will definitely look for you at the next reunion. I went to the 10th and 35th, but only the cocktail parties. Guess I missed a number of people.

I still cruise by my old house, now and again. I even stop at Bo's once in awhile for ice cream. My parents are gone of course. My Dad for 35 years, my Mom for only 12. My Mom lived in that house until 1984, when the neighborhood got a bit unsafe for her to be there alone. I moved her over here to Dunedin to be closer to me.

I remember us skating. I still roller blade on the Pinellas County Trail. It's great exercise. I also remember us always racing, in school or just for fun. You ran so fast, and I was always a couple of steps slower. But I think it inspired me, because I ran 3 miles each morning for 35 years. Finally had to quit two years ago because my knees had simply had enough.

I've been working for Nielsen (the TV ratings people) for 28 years. Very interesting career. Not where I thought my life would go. But it's been fun and rewarding, but also demanding. I'm one of those business travelers with the ba-zillion frequent flyer miles, 5 different roll aboard suitcases and weary eyes. Had planned to retire last September when I turned 55. But decided not to give up a really good gig when the economy tanked,

No kids, by choice. Was never part of my plans. But I do have furry kids and many furry kids across the years.

Sounds like you have a very interesting and rewarding career at Moffitt. It is a great institution and they do great work. It's great that both you and your husband work there, and now your son.

    Take care.
  • Sounds like you have a very rewarding career; I'm so glad you're doing something you love! I chose to be a stay at home mom until after my daughter died [Muscular Dystrophy]. I didn't know about your dad; I'm so sorry. Most times I saw him was out by the car with a Thermos in his hand, going or coming from work. Car...just sparked a memory...your mom picked us up from school and you 'bout had a fit because she brought the dog in a diaper! You were embarrassed that she would do that...your reaction was funnier than the dog!!!
  • Karen, I sure got a surprise when Terri Di told me you work at Moffitt! Don't I recall you training as a legal secretary? Do you remember going shopping and picking out china, crystal & silver? Well, it only took twenty-something years, but I finally got mine [no wedding shower, then no place to store it]. China is white on white, just like my teenaged dream and stemware is vintage handblown cranberry glass. I have patience to wait for what I really want rather than settle. Don and I lived very near your childhood home for 25 years and I'd see your parents every once in awhile; I was sorry to hear about your mom's passing. How long have you been at Moffitt?
  • Hey Sister,
Finally found you, but...where is a picture. Put one up or I will send in one for you. Love you much.. Donna
  • Hi Karen, Not sure if you remember me or not. We went to Cleveland together and you use to come to my house to play. Glad to see so many people joining this site.
