Yes, I still sing, but my passion is writing. I was what most would consider an associate pastor for about four years, and then pastored the church in Van Alstyne. I wrote all my sermons out, o I've developed a habit of writing sermons which continues even though I seldom have oportunities to preach.
I met Becky while I was in Air Foce training in Wichita Falls, Texas. I had started attending her church before she came home form college. Her pastor challenged me on some theological issues. I took what he gave me and ran with it farther than he would have intended. In a few years later, after spending some time as a Titan 2 missile lauch officer in Jacksonville, Arkansas, I became an elder in what became Heritage Baptist Church in Mansfield, Texas. That church is part of the Founders' Movement within the Southern Baptist Convention.
I have become fully Reformed. Our church used the 1689 Second London Baptist Confession of Faith, as does the church which I now attend. We feel pasionately about these issues that we are willing to drive an hour to a church in Dallas.
I envy you the grandchildren. But better to marry late than to marry wrong, therefore I will wait patiently on the Lord's timing for my sons' marriage.
