  • The guy in the corner was named Bill, I think. I want to say that he lived right off of Central , just north of the school. Last name not recalled at this time. I think our postings are public domain so if ever needed my E-mail is F59Y@aol.com.
  • This friend site may work better. I had the same experience that you had with the postings. I blame my computer system for more than it probably deserves. We are so far out in the woods that cable is not available. Anything faster than dial up has to be by satelite. I got the DirecTV system and have not been completely satisfied. I swear that their satelite must be in orbit about 30 feet over Davis Island because everytime that it rains, it "Cannot Find Server". My daughter-in-law insists that my computer is too old. What can be wrong with a 2000 model?

I did meet alot of old friends through business. When I first came back from the service, I worked for my cousin who had a septic tank company. His company was "#1 in the #2 Business". At least that is what it said on the pencils that we gave away. That is where I met Ronnie Jernigan again. He is in the picture, top row, second from right, next to Dulcie. I know he must have lived near Buffalo but I would see him in the 6 Mile Creek area on Sat. mornings. My mother was a bookkeeper at the lumber company there and I would go to work with her when she worked Saturdays. Ronnie was quiet and I thought that maybe even poorer that the rest of us. On Sat. he was always bare footed. Not running through the grassy meadow type bare footed, but walking on the old gravel road, I don't have any other shoes, type bare footed. But he was always a nice guy. At the septic tank company, we would sometimes have big projects that called for fill dirt. My cousin would contract with Jernigan Bros. Trucking. I remember when their rep. came out to do an estimate in a brand new Impala with good sounding dual exhaust, there was Ronnie. In fact, all of the brothers had Impalas. I was so proud for him as it looked like he had done well. I saw him later in life when I went to do a lumber take off on a barn job in the Cork area north of Plant City. It was Ronnie's farm. I don't know if it was because of health that he had retired (I thought too young) but there he was in bib overalls and a rocking chair in front of a very nice house. He was pleasant as ever and the next time I heard of him, he had passed away. I am thinking that he was in his late forties or early fifties.

Sorry, if it seems that I don't know any live people but I do. I think that is the reason that our group of guys meet for lunch so often. A celebration of life that says we are still here. Added benefit is lousy memorys. We can't remember if we have told stories before but neither can anyone else, so the conversation is always stimulating. Take care.
  • The Buffalo picture is great. I blew it up and printed it and will take it to our next lunch. Several in the picture have lunch with us. I have run into several in the picture throughout my working career and have some great stories on most. When I have more time, and if you are interested.
    Thanks, Joel
  • I misspelled her name as it was Adkinson. She may not have come back after our soph. year. But in the 1961 annual (our first) she was the Soph. Teacher of the Year. I couldn't find her there for a minute in the other annuals and I thought that it was Twilight Zone time.
  • Atkinson probably was it and she was mean. My homeroom teacher at Buffalo was Mrs. Norris and then I had her daughter at Hillsborough for geometry and her name was Atkinson. She was a sweetheart as had been her mother Mrs. Norris. Interesting about your husband playing the organ. I love the music from our era and found out that all of the bands had the Hammond B3 organ. Seems that it was easy to transport to "gigs". I thought that it would be neat to have one (though I would not be able to play it either). I found them on E-Bay and what kids used to drag around in the back of their cars now cost as much as a car. Tell your husband to keep practicing because I am looking for someone to play an organ recessional at my funeral. It will be the Beach Boys "I Get Around". Also, I followed up on Arnold maybe still being in Florida and found an Arnold Rowland in Melbourne. I called the number but it had been disconnected.
    Take care, Joel
  • I may be mistaken on Arnold being at Memorial but I remember him on cornet also and I don't think it was from Buffalo. The music teacher at Buffalo was real strict (Evans?) and didn't like the method that I was taught at Cleveland. So I spent most of my time trying to stay out of her wrath. To make matters worse, I was lousy at trumpet...and tuba... and piano.
    Good to hear from you.
    Joel
  • Hey Jenay,
Tried to hear from you for the 45th Reunion that we had in 2008. I think the last address that we had was in Riverview so sorry if we missed you. We will have another coming up in 2013. Saw Bill Diaz and Al Decidue at lunch the other day and one conversation was about the horn section at Memorial. I keep up with George Shaw who was on tuba. Wonder what happened to Arnold Rowland.
    Take care, Joel Miller
  • I think you will really like it here. More people are coming in each day. I've
been here about a year now. You need to open a site for your class of 63.
It makes it so much easier to find your classmates once you get them into
    the group.
  • Hi Jenay!! Great pic, Welcome to the HHS site. Hope you enjoy the site as
    much as I do. Pam
