About Me:

I was born and raised in Tampa, FL and was proud to follow in my father's and grandfather's footsteps by becoming a third generation HHS Terrier. My Senior year I was Co-Captain of the Softball team, Co-President of the Juggling Club, and Historian of Key Club. I graduated with my I.B. diploma and then moved to Gainesville to attend the University of Florida. Go Gators! After 5 years, I graduated with a B.A. in English and a Masters in Education. I met my husband, Steve, at UF and we moved to Oregon after we got married because he got a job at Intel. We've been living here for over four years now and I've been working as a teacher with middle school and high school kids. We're expecting our first child in November. :-)

  • Emily,

    Hi! That is cool, that you started the Juggling Club at HHS. The juggling back to back is a pretty cool trick! We didn't try that one. It sounds difficult. Maybe, I will try that some time, for fun.
    Yeah, I heard about Portland's famous wet weather, but we missed out on it, the whole time we were there, there wasn't a drop in the sky. But, it is beautiful out there! However, I have not forgotten, what the two ladies from Astoria once told me;

    "...and remember, Oregonians don't tan. they just rust."

    Have a great summer!

  • Welcome! Congratulations, I hope it is a healthy child! You were the "Juggling Club President," I absolutely love it!!!! LOL! By the way, me, my brother Ron, and his best friend Oscar, all former Terriers, had a neighborhood juggling thing going. Where we would get together in our front yards to see who could juggle; then later, who could juggle the longest; then later who could juggle the most items at once; and so on. We had fun! But, a club would have been awesome! HHS didn't have a juggling club when we went there. The best I did was I could juggle up to five objects, mostly small round objects like golf balls or unripe tangerines. So, what were your juggling talents like?
    Anyway, Oregon is beautiful! When I was in the U.S. Navy we pulled into port there at Portland, for the week of the Rose Festival! It was incredibly beautiful weather there in Portland, when we were there! My two civilian escorts, for the "tiger cruise" portion of the trip up the mouth of the Columbia River from Astoria, said that I must have brought the sunshine with me from Florida, because it was almost always raining around that time of year up there. They were sweet old ladies! And, my hats off to Lt.Cmdr. Cluster USN (retired) and his wife, who lived in Portland, for their hospitality! I will never forget them! He was truly and officer and a gentleman! We met them at McCormick and Schmicks restaurant! And, they picked up our check, which was several hundred dollars, not including the tip! Me and a, midshipman, shipmate, who were dining there. Having the first great meal we had in weeks!
    And, by the way, some trivia for you, Lt.Cmdr. Cluster was formerly the "XO" and the "Navigator" on the famous "PT-109!" And, his commanding officer, and friend, was then a young Navy Lt. by the name of John F. Kennedy!
    And so, I was the QMSN -Quartermaster (an enlisted navigator rate) that personally gave Lt. Cmdr. Cluster the guided enlisted tour of our Fast Frigate ship, when we were at the Rose Festival in 1985!
    Anyway, I wish you great success and happiness!

    John -former HHS Chess Club President
