Hey, you old "jar head!" Why didn't you join this site sooner? I just came back from a vacation out there last year! We stayed on Waikiki! I had a ball surfing there too! We could have partied together! The next time I vacation there we ought get together and jam, I will bring my tenor!
So you know, I ended up the Navy, after HHS! I was an E-4, QM3, before I got out. I was stationed out in San Diego, first on a fast frigate and then I did some time on the USS Enterprise, CVN 65, my tour was from 84-88, and then I got out, and I returned home to Tampa to go to college. We pulled into to Pearl Harbor, three times over the course of our deployment.
This last trip to Hawaii, was my first civilian trip there. Man, it is a still a beautiful place! Just curious, were you stationed out there, when I was passing through Pearl? Wow, it is a small world, isn't it?
By the way, Mr. Z and I were in the same band a while back, the Fanfare Concert Winds, but he dropped it because he is still busy teaching. He is still hitting his high notes, he's a great player! So, are you gigging out there, and how's the pay? They got any work for sax players? I have thought about moving there, someday! Just curious.
Oh, and when I reminded Mr.Z. of the time he cracked up, staring at me with a trumpet in my hand, just before we marched at Disney World, because I didn't have a bari sax to march with and I had borrowed my brother's trumpet to play, he laughed! I still can't believe I was able to play it, with the little bit of practice time I had on it! But, I have to say, it was fun marching with the trumpets for a day!

    Mahalo, dude!
