About Me:

Semi Retired now, sold the newspaper I have been publishing for 30 years in 2005. Raising my "Purebred Show chickens" on our little ranchette in Seffner. I have the opportunity to travel around the state judging poultry shows at the county fairs and 4-H Youth shows. Working with the kids on their poultry projects is so rewarding. I really do love chickens, and all the kids are just terrific! I am also taking a few classes including Tap Dancing at Patel Conservatory in Tampa (Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center). Life is good!

  • P.S. Bob is great. Stayed in Steamboat working on our 10+ year house renovation, and playing bass in 4 bands. So we now have a serious long distance relationship. His band, 3Wire is taking off playing festivals, selling their CD, playing regular gigs at two bars, and traveling a little. His dude ranch band at Home Ranch plays two nights a week - cowboy Bob, cowboy Randy and cowboy John - John actually owns a cattle ranch - but Randy (from Boston) and Bob (from Detroit) have never been on a horse. They look good though all dressed up like cowboys! And he's in a rock'n'roll power trio where he gets to play electric bass - my favorite.
  • Hi there, Val. Tap dance is a riot! So glad to hear you're doing well. I tapped for awhile, even performed in a dance concert tapping (and modern, & jazz) - but tap is too much fun! Yeah, ballet is tough on the body, I regularly abuse my knees and hip with extreme hiking & backcountry skiing - so I know about constant pain. No, not the bird - purple martin, the mammal - American marten - in the weasel family (mustelidae). Sometimes incorrectly called the pine marten which is a European species. They are not a Southern mammal, only living in temperate and boreal forests. Check out my page changes where I posted a couple of marten pics. Tap on...
  • Valerie, Hi there -- miss you kiddo.

I'm working in Macdoel, CA right now, finding American marten, tracking them in the snow, setting up bait stations for them. Whoo hoo! Glad to hear the chickens are still showing, and you're still dancing!

  • Me, too! That's why I cropped mine from a photo with a couple of coworkers. I cannot stand to have my picture taken...let me clarify that, I cannot stand to pose to have my picture taken. My eyes are always closed; after I had to quit wearing contacts, it's the distortion of my face through glasses; and I truly hate gravity. Digital is a good thing; I talked my husband into taking several in succession for anything now, that way we have half a chance of at least one turning out ok....and what's more fun is viewing them in succession because you really get to see the essence of the moment [feelings, personality].
  • Valerie, rather than put it on both your pages, I just left a comment on Earls that relates to you, too.
  • Valerie, when are you shedding the dog? Give us something different to look at...if not you, then at least a few chickens! It's in Settings, just below your name on the right side of the page.
  • That was just one fourth grade class of I guess maybe three or four.. your right though, after looking at her in the HHS yearbook she was definately not in that class... I remember obituaries of her mother and father and seem to remember that she was married and now lives in Oklahoma or Kansas... I sent my picture to Robert Ayo and he got them on there... He could probably make up a Bryan Elementary blog like the Foster one...
  • Valerie, you never mentioned in your post in the Elementary blog which girl (if any) was Kathy Pritchard ... You should upload your birthday party picture also.. Happy New Year....
