  • Hey Cat,

Let's give up on this HHS website that often runs very slowly.  My email is rangerrb@bellsouth.net   Cell phone is 904-568-4939.

More later.  We just got back from a mini-vacation - 4 days in Washingotn DC and then two days in Philadelphia for a (Barbara) family reunion.

  • Hi Miss Cat,
I indeed was in Oklahoma at Wichita Mountain National Wildlife Refuge on a fire
assignment.  It is a really pretty area set aside to have  a place to
reintroduce bison and elk back in the mid plains back in the early 20th century.
They also have (Texas) longhorn cattle - the breed closely related to the
original cows the Spanish brought to the Southwest back in the 1600s.

The fire burned 11 homes and 40000 acres and we stopped in for only $3.5
million.  Cheap by most fire standards.  And my job as a retired government
drudge (clerk!) is to compile all the documentation.  I am a file clerk!!  It is
a good job which I do a couple of times a year for mad money.

So I am sorry that I missed the reunion.  I did enjoy the previous one and was
looking forward to this one. So why do you say that you will probably not go to
the 50th?  The previous sentence says that you enjoyed it.  What part did you
not enjoy?  Isn't it great to see the lack of hair and big waist lines?

So I do occassionally come to the Tampa area.  But these days it is mostly
during the week as a retiree, I do not have to deal with weekends.  My brother
lives in Citrus County on the Chassahowitzka River.  He is the only person who
lives on the river and is a sort of a hermit.  So your memory was very good and
picked one of those rivers with a Creek Indian name!!!

So are you retired yet?  Tell me again what you do for a living as my brain
cells no longer retain info for long.  I assume it had to do with art in some
    form.  Teacher?

    from the Atlantic coast

  • Cat,

I just got back from working ona fire assignment in Texas on a planning team. Could not respond from Texas because I did not know my passords.  As for Earth Day.......no memories of that event but I would suspect the Robert Matthews would have made some sort of public display!!!

It was not an event in Texas, but I guess when your house is burning down, that someone would not be too concerned with Earthday festivals!

Monroe  - the middle name was also my father's middle name and was a name form one of his ancestors, but nothing with the fomer president that I know about.

  • Miss Cat,

Anytime in September works for me as we will be back from our three month vacation to Wyoming, Montana and the Canadian Rockies.   Last summer we rented a house in Durango and this summer decided to be more mobile.  So we purchased a small travel trailer and will take the 100 pound dog and head for Yellowstone, Glacier and Grand Teton (all parks I never worked in but have vistied on fire assignments or on vacation).  So we plan to be back around September 1 and a reunion after that would work.

The fact that you know my middle name after all these years tells me that your memory is much better than mine!!!

    Richard

  • Cat,

I lost this site and just got an email from Robert Ayo that the site was still up and running.  Say your comment that you may attend.....are you referring to a reunion?  Has a date been selected?
